To all of our many dear friends,It is with the greatest of sadness that we must share with you news of recent events and what lead up to them. On September 11th, 2001, we received the results of Vera’s medical tests and a diagnosis of Congestive Heart Failure (CHF). As others were crying about the awful tragedies of that day, we were crying about our terrible personal news. The doctors were unable to promise that her heart would last more than a year. For six years, Vera waged a valiant battle to stabilize and improve her health through diet and exercise. Each year, she keep repeating that she would do anything or give up anything she could to enjoy one more Christmas, her favorite time of the year. This year was definitely her happiest Christmas in many years. She had a wonderful time visiting family and friends. She sent out her Christmas cards and so enjoyed watching friends and family open the many, many Christmas presents that she had bought throughout the year. She was overjoyed that Richard was home from college for the holidays. She passed away quietly in her sleep on Friday morning, December 28th. We’re so glad that she was able to have one last Christmas. Our family and friends immediately surrounded and embraced us. We’ve already received so much help!
