Vera and I worked together at the Burbank Hospital Child Care Center.  She was one of the kindest, gentlest people I have ever had the privilege to work with.

The most beautiful smile -- that truly comes from deep within.  The parents, kids and colleagues loved "Miss Vera".

Thank you for sharing her with me.

I had met Vera only recently - in the past year. It didn't take long to realize that she was a very kind and caring person. The world really would be a better place if more people were like Vera.

I wrote this little poem after our first meeting:

Within a nanosecond
you feel at ease
in her presence.
She never lets
anything
come between
her good heart
and the world.

It was my honor to be Vera's friend for the last 40 years. We had so much fun! proms, sleepovers, school projects, "Camelot" and Bill Cosby.  And the dance at my school where she met Ken. Then came our marriages, children, personal struggles, and continued friendship and laughter.

For those 40 years Vera was always the most caring and considerate person I knew. Ken and Rich have lost the best wife and Mom they could have asked for. Forever in our hearts, but no longer in our world? How can that be?
